Iran Reaffirms No Direct Talks with US, Chooses Pakistan as Intermediary
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has once again arrived in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, marking his second visit within two days. The visit is seen as part of ongoing diplomatic engagements in the region. During his stay, Araghchi is scheduled to hold meetings with Pakistani leaders on key issues. According to available information, after a brief stop in Islamabad, Araghchi will depart for Russia as part of his continued diplomatic tour. Earlier, on Saturday, he had also visited Islamabad, where he met Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir. During those discussions, Iran conveyed its concerns and objections regarding its own conditions as well as the demands made by the United States. Iran has clearly stated that it is not willing to engage in direct talks with the United States and will instead communicate its position through Pakistan. In this context, Pakistan’s role is being viewed as significant in facilitating indirect communication between the two sides. Prior to his return to Pakistan, Araghchi had traveled to Oman on Saturday evening. During his visit, he met Oman’s Sultan Tariq bin Haitham. The meeting focused on discussions related to ongoing conflicts and efforts aimed at restoring peace in the region.
