A car carrying Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament Mitali Bag was attacked with bricks and stones in Hooghly district of West Bengal on Monday, according to reports. The incident occurred while she was travelling from Goghat to Arambagh to attend a roadshow led by Abhishek Banerjee. During the attack, the windows of the vehicle were shattered, leaving the MP and her driver injured. Both were immediately taken to Arambagh Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Following the incident, Mitali Bag appeared visibly distressed and broke down in front of the media. She said, “Look at the condition of my car. They threw large stones. I somehow managed to save my life.” The TMC has accused supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of carrying out the हमला, alleging that bricks, stones, and sticks were used to target the MP’s vehicle in Goghat. In a post on the social media platform X, the party claimed that the attack occurred shortly after a threat allegedly made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. According to the statement, Shah had warned that anyone stepping out of their homes would face severe consequences. Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the incident. The accused have been identified as Sintu Santra, Sanatan Santra, and Rajkumar Roy. All three are reportedly associated with the BJP. Authorities stated that further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
