The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has claimed to have dismantled a cross-border illegal arms module operating in the region. In connection with the case, police have arrested five accused persons and one minor, recovering five modern pistols, 34 live cartridges, and a sharp-edged weapon from their possession. The development was disclosed by Gaurav Yadav, who shared details of the operation through his social media account. According to him, the seized weapons include a Glock 9 mm pistol, a PX5 .30 bore pistol, a Taurus 9 mm pistol, a Greta 9 mm pistol manufactured in Pakistan, and another .30 bore pistol. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals were in contact with Pakistan-based arms smugglers through social media platforms. The suspects allegedly coordinated the receipt and distribution of illegal weapons consignments to different areas. Police have registered a case under the Arms Act at Maqboolpura Police Station and further investigation is underway to dismantle the entire network involved in the smuggling operation. Meanwhile, Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that some of the arrested accused are linked to border areas. They were reportedly receiving weapons dropped from across the border using drones and then distributing them further. He added that the recovered firearms are highly sophisticated pistols. Police officials said efforts are continuing to trace other members of the network and identify the full chain involved in the cross-border arms smuggling operation.
