Major Relief for Gautam Adani as US Closes High-Profile Fraud Case
Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has received major legal relief from the United States. The US Department of Justice has permanently withdrawn all criminal charges against Gautam Adani and his nephew, Sagar Adani. With this decision, the highly controversial fraud case being pursued in New York has now been officially closed. The development is being seen as a significant legal victory for the Adani Group. According to court filings, US prosecutors informed the court that they were no longer in a position to pursue the allegations. Lawyers representing the US government told a federal court in Eastern New York that, after reviewing the case, they had decided not to proceed further with the criminal charges. Following the submission, the court ordered the charges to be “dismissed with prejudice,” meaning the case cannot be reopened in the future. The matter dates back to 2024, when the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) brought serious allegations against Indian businessman Gautam Adani and Sagar Adani. The SEC had alleged that the Adani Group promised bribes worth 265 million US dollars to Indian officials in order to secure a high-value government contract linked to a large solar energy project in India. However, with the US Department of Justice now withdrawing all criminal proceedings, the Adani Group has received substantial legal and business relief in the matter.
