Vice President Attends PU Event in Chandigarh

Vice President Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan attended a special event organized at Punjab University today. The Chandigarh Police implemented strict security arrangements for the high-profile visit. As part of the measures, mobile phones, electronic devices, and water bottles were prohibited inside the auditorium. Only professional video and photography equipment were permitted, while mobile phone photography was strictly banned. Alongside the Vice President’s visit, traffic police also issued a special advisory due to Janmashtami celebrations in the city. Citizens were urged to avoid affected routes and use alternative roads where necessary. Traffic disruptions were expected around two major religious sites from 12 noon until 1 a.m. Traffic Diversions Near ISKCON Temple, Sector-36 Due to Janmashtami festivities at the ISKCON Temple in Sector-36, traffic was regulated on Dakshin Marg between Kisan Bhawan Chowk (Sector 22/23-35/36) and Batra Chowk (Sector 23/24-36/37). Traffic Changes Near Sector-20 Temple Celebrations at the Sector-20 temple also led to diversions. Traffic between the Sector 20/21 light point and the Sector 20/30 light point was expected to remain affected. Parking Restrictions and Enforcement Traffic police appealed to guests, invitees, and government officials attending the events to park only at designated areas. Authorities warned that vehicles parked in cycle tracks, pedestrian pathways, or no-parking zones would face penalties. Violating vehicles could also be towed away if necessary. The Chandigarh Traffic Police urged residents to cooperate by avoiding restricted routes and following advisories to ensure smooth traffic management during the Vice President’s visit and Janmashtami celebrations.
