13 Apr, 2026 12:37 PM

In a significant breakthrough, the Amritsar (Rural) Police, in a joint operation with Faridkot Police, have solved the grenade attack case at Bhindi Saidan police station. Six accused have been arrested in connection with the incident, and two pistols have been recovered from their possession. According to police officials, preliminary investigations indicate the involvement of a militant group allegedly supported by Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI. Authorities stated that the arrested individuals were in direct contact with a Pakistan-based handler, who was coordinating and facilitating extremist activities in Punjab from across the border. The Director General of Police (DGP) revealed that during the investigation, it emerged that the accused had procured hand grenades on the intervening night of March 29 and 30. They then conducted detailed reconnaissance of the target location before carrying out the attack on the Bhindi Saidan police station. Reports further suggest that the members of the group were radicalized and misled. They were allegedly promised substantial financial rewards to carry out attacks on police establishments and stations in Punjab. Police have registered an FIR against the accused under relevant sections of the Explosives Act, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the Arms Act. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
