Tenure of Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat Extended

The Punjab government has extended the tenure of Harchand Singh Barsat as Chairman of the Punjab Mandi Board. Following the extension, Barsat visited the Board’s headquarters, where he received a warm welcome from officials and staff. He was greeted with bouquets, and the atmosphere at the office remained celebratory and enthusiastic. Addressing the gathering, Barsat expressed gratitude to Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Singh Mann, Manish Sisodia, and Aman Arora for entrusting him with the responsibility. He stated that he would continue to discharge his duties with full dedication and work with greater enthusiasm for the welfare of farmers, commission agents, laborers, and employees. He urged officials and employees to intensify efforts to improve arrangements and expand facilities in mandis across the state. Emphasizing the importance of increasing the Board’s revenue, Barsat highlighted the need to adopt modern technologies and expand digital systems to strengthen operational efficiency. He also stressed the implementation of special योजनाएं aimed at infrastructure development, cleanliness, and upgrading basic amenities in mandis. Barsat further noted that mandis play a central role in Punjab’s agricultural system, serving not only as trading hubs but also as a foundation for farmers’ economic strength. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening this role and expressed confidence that, through collective efforts, the Board would achieve new milestones. On the occasion, senior officials including Kumar Amit (IAS), Secretary of the Board, Jatinder Singh Bhangu, Engineer-in-Chief, and Harjeet Singh Sandhu (PCS), Joint Secretary, along with other staff members, welcomed Barsat. They also shared updates on ongoing initiatives under his leadership and assured continued dedication and integrity in fulfilling their responsibilities.
