Elderly Sikh Man Allegedly Targeted in Racist Incident in Canada, Accused Arrested
An incident of alleged racial discrimination against a Punjabi Sikh has been reported in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. According to information, a local युवक allegedly pushed and verbally abused an elderly Sikh man, asking him to leave Canada and return to Punjab. The युवक was also heard saying, “What are you doing in my country?” The incident took place on Friday when the elderly man was walking outside his residence. During this time, the युवक reportedly misbehaved with him. A video of the incident has also surfaced, showing the आरोपी, who was wearing a mask, making racial remarks. People present at the scene immediately informed the police. Upon arrival, the police intervened and brought the situation under control. The accused युवक was pushed to the ground by officers and subsequently arrested. According to Woodstock Police Service, preliminary investigation suggests that the युवक acted on his own and that no group or organized element was involved in the incident. However, members of the Sikh community have expressed concern, viewing the घटना as part of a growing pattern of anti-Sikh hate incidents in Canada. A spokesperson for the police confirmed that the आरोपी has been taken into custody and an investigation is underway. Authorities have not disclosed the identities of either the आरोपी or the elderly Sikh man, citing Canadian laws that restrict the release of such details during an ongoing investigation. No statement has been issued by the victim’s family so far. Meanwhile, local residents have appreciated the prompt response by the police in handling the situation.
