27 Jul, 2026 05:36 PM

Parliament is expected to witness a stormy session on Monday as the INDIA Bloc prepares to finalize its floor strategy ahead of the day's proceedings. The alliance's floor leaders are scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. at the office of Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss and coordinate their approach. According to sources, the Opposition is expected to raise the issue of the alleged police action against student protesters during the parliamentary session. The matter is likely to feature prominently in the discussions between the ruling party and the Opposition. Meanwhile, the Central Government is set to introduce the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha. The proposed legislation will be tabled by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh. The Bill seeks to amend the law that came into force in 2024. It proposes stricter punishments and heavier financial penalties for those found guilty of using unfair means in public examinations. The proposed amendment also empowers state governments and Union Territories to establish special fast-track courts for such cases. These courts will conduct day-to-day hearings to ensure the speedy disposal of examination-related offences.
