Canada: Police Seize $20,000 in Counterfeit Currency, Guns and Drugs in West Kelowna

Police in British Columbia have arrested a man after searching a residence in West Kelowna and recovering approximately $20,000 in counterfeit currency, more than a dozen deadly weapons and a large quantity of various drugs. Police also found equipment allegedly intended for producing counterfeit banknotes. The materials were discovered in concealed areas of the residence, raising concerns that a large-scale counterfeit currency operation may have been under preparation. The search was carried out at a residence in the 3100 block of Shannon Place in West Kelowna after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) obtained a search warrant based on information received by its Drug and Organized Crime Reduction Team. According to RCMP West Kelowna spokesperson Corporal Shawn Enchmichak, the timely police operation prevented a substantial quantity of illegal items and potentially dangerous weapons from reaching the public. During the search, officers recovered counterfeit currency worth around $20,000, equipment used to produce counterfeit notes, several illegal firearms and multiple types of dangerous drugs. One person found at the residence was taken into custody and is being questioned further as the investigation continues. Police have urged members of the public to remain particularly cautious when handling cash. Authorities said that anyone who notices anything suspicious during a cash transaction should contact police immediately. Police said the prompt action helped stop the counterfeit currency and other illegal materials from being circulated in the community before they could reach members of the public.
