Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar was stopped by police after he reached outside the official residences of Punjab Cabinet ministers in Sector 39, Chandigarh, on Tuesday.
Jakhar said he had booked a room at the Circuit House located in Sector 39 but was not being allowed to enter the premises. He alleged that people from outside were staying in the official residences allotted to Punjab ministers.
Jakhar said the presence of outsiders in government residences would not be tolerated. He also raised concerns over the alleged involvement of outsiders in the approval of files related to the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) and other government offices.
According to Jakhar, allowing outsiders to approve files concerning government departments was highly inappropriate. He questioned the manner in which government residences and official work were allegedly being handled.
Jakhar further said that the BJP would first work to remove outsiders from the official residences of government ministers and would subsequently seek to bring about a political change in Punjab.
The incident took place amid Jakhar’s criticism of the functioning of the Punjab government and the use of government facilities.
