Long-Pending Demand Addressed: Haryana Retirees to Receive Cashless Healthcare Cards

09 Oct, 2026 03:00 PM

The long-pending demand for cashless medical facilities for government employees, retired employees and their dependent family members in Haryana is moving towards implementation, with the issuance of cashless medical cards for retired employees expected to begin on Monday.

Roshan Lal Sharma, district convener of the BJP Employees Cell, said government employees and retirees previously had to pay medical expenses from their own pockets and seek reimbursement later. This process often caused considerable difficulties.

According to Sharma, the issue was raised with the government through MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora. Recognising the difficulties faced by retired employees, then Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had accepted the demand for cashless medical facilities and directed officials to issue a notification.

However, despite the notification, cashless medical cards were not being issued to retired employees, Sharma said.

A delegation of the BJP Employees Cell subsequently met Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and brought the matter to his attention. Taking serious note of the issue, the Chief Minister ordered an inquiry.

Sharma said that during a meeting with Yamunanagar Treasury Officer Ram Niwas, officials provided an update on the orders issued by the Director General of the Treasury and Accounts Department, Haryana, based in Panchkula.

According to the information shared at the meeting, the necessary staff arrangements have been completed, and the process of issuing cashless medical cards is scheduled to begin on Monday.

The development is expected to advance the implementation of cashless medical facilities for retired government employees, addressing a demand that had remained pending despite earlier government directions.
