Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha has been removed from Punjab’s Kharar voter list following the Election Commission’s special revision process. Officials confirmed that Chadha’s residential shift from his Mohali address led to the deletion of his vote from the state records. The updated voter list for Kharar, published on August 13, revealed the removal of Chadha’s name. The Election Commission stated that 2.066 million voters were struck off across Punjab, accounting for nearly 9.7 percent of the total electorate. Chadha, who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after leaving the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), denounced the move as “political vendetta” and accused the Punjab government of deliberately targeting him. Senior AAP leaders, however, argued that the deletion was part of the Commission’s independent revision process and had no connection with the state administration. Records show that Chadha had previously been registered in Mohali’s Ward No. 44, Regency Heights, under Booth No. 160. Sources confirmed that he has permanently shifted from this residence. Notably, Chadha did not cast his vote in the last municipal elections and has rarely been seen in Punjab since parting ways with AAP. When Chadha was nominated to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab in March 2022, his selection sparked debate as he was originally a resident of Delhi. His affidavit at the time listed his vote under Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar constituency. Later, he reportedly canceled his Delhi registration and obtained a voter ID in Punjab. During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Chadha cast his vote at a polling station in Lakhnour village, Mohali. With his name now deleted from Punjab’s rolls, questions remain over whether Chadha currently holds valid voter registration elsewhere in the country.
