The weather in Chandigarh changed on Monday morning as light rain brought relief from the recent heat. The drizzle made conditions more pleasant across the city, while temperatures also recorded a decline of around 1 to 2 degrees Celsius.
According to the weather department, Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 22.1 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was recorded at 30 degrees Celsius.
Weather scientists said the city could receive intermittent rain during the day. A slight decline in temperatures may also be recorded over the coming days.
Rain Recorded in Several Punjab Districts
After several days of largely clear weather, conditions changed across Punjab on Monday, with rain beginning in several parts of the state. Showers were reported in Hoshiarpur, Bathinda, Fazilka and Patiala, among other cities.
The rainfall brought down daytime temperatures and provided residents with relief from the heat. However, the change in weather has also raised concerns among farmers, particularly those growing paddy.
The paddy crop in Punjab is currently in its final stage. Farmers are concerned that rain accompanied by strong winds could affect the crop. Such weather conditions may cause the paddy grain to become discoloured and could also have an impact on crop yield.
The rainfall has therefore brought mixed conditions across the state, offering relief to people from the heat while creating concerns for farmers with standing paddy crops nearing harvest.
