Incident Involving Two US Aircraft Reported as KC-135 Crashes in Iraq

13 Mar, 2026 10:53 AM

As the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran entered its 14th day, a US military KC-135 aircraft crashed in Iraq. An Iraqi Shia rebel group has claimed responsibility for bringing down the aircraft. Earlier, on March 2, three American aircraft had also crashed in Kuwait due to friendly fire incidents. The Islamic Resistance group in Iraq stated that its fighters targeted the US aircraft using an air defense system in western Iraq, which led to the crash. The organization is a coalition of several Iran-backed groups operating in the region. However, the US military has denied the claim made by the rebel group. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), an incident occurred involving two American aircraft. One aircraft crashed in western Iraq, while the other landed safely in Israel. The US military stated that the aircraft was not brought down by any attack or gunfire. Officials said the crash occurred in an area considered to be friendly airspace.
