Lok Sabha Witnesses Uproar Over Randhawa Case, Amit Shah Seeks MPs’ Written Request
The suicide case of warehouse official Gagandeep Singh Randhawa from Amritsar was raised in the Lok Sabha on Monday, leading to a heated discussion in Parliament. The Punjab Police have already registered a case against former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and others in connection with the incident. However, the family of the deceased has been demanding the arrest of the accused. The issue was brought up in the House by Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla, prompting a response from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Addressing the matter, Amit Shah stated that if Members of Parliament submit a written request, the Centre is willing to hand over the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He added that since the matter pertains to Punjab, all MPs from the state should collectively give their consent in writing for the transfer of the case to the CBI. The development comes amid continued pressure from the victim’s family and political representatives seeking a thorough and impartial probe into the case.
