A chilling case of murder has come to light in Guwahati, Assam, where a man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife, severing her head from her body, and storing it inside a refrigerator. The suspect also mutilated the victim by chopping off fingers from both of her hands. The deceased has been identified as Riya Talukdar Goswami. Guwahati Police have taken her husband, Ramanujan Goswami, into custody in connection with the crime. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect surrendered to the police and allegedly confessed to committing the murder. The crime was uncovered on Sunday night after neighbors alerted the police about a strong, foul odor emanating from the couple's flat. Upon receiving the report, a police team arrived at the residence and conducted a thorough search of the premises. During the inspection, officers discovered the woman’s severed head wrapped inside a polythene bag kept in the refrigerator. Further investigation revealed that several of the victim's fingers had also been chopped off. While the primary accused, Ramanujan Goswami, remains in custody, authorities stated that the exact motive behind the brutal killing has not yet been established. Police are currently interrogating the suspect and conducting a detailed investigation to uncover additional circumstances surrounding the incident.
