Katie Shanahan, who was born in Glasgow, secured the silver medal in the same pool where she first learned to swim. South Africa's Nathan Hendricks delivered one of the biggest upsets of the Games by winning the men's para-swimming 100m freestyle S13 final, earning his country's first gold medal of the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Hendricks finished ahead of home favourite Stephen Clegg. Earlier, Jenna Jones won Australia's first para-swimming medal of the Games by claiming gold in the women's 100m freestyle S13 final, the opening medal event in the para-swimming competition.
