Massive Blaze Engulfs Moradabad Export Factory; Smoke Visible 2 km Away

14 Sep, 2026 02:49 PM

A massive fire broke out on Monday afternoon at a woodenware manufacturing factory in Moradabad. The entire facility was engulfed in flames, with fire shooting up to 20 feet into the air. A dense plume of smoke was visible from up to two kilometers away, causing severe breathing difficulties for nearby residents. In response to the growing health and safety hazards, local police promptly evacuated the surrounding area. More than ten fire tenders were deployed to battle the blaze. Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Dr. Rajeev Kumar Pandey stated that given the severity of the fire, additional fire tenders had to be requested from neighboring Rampur. Large stockpiles of highly inflammable materials inside the premises—including thinner, paint, chemicals, and dry wood—caused the fire to spread rapidly across the facility. The cause of the fire and the exact number of workers present inside the factory at the time of the incident remain unknown. The facility, operating under the name 'RH International', is situated near Rampur Chauraha under the jurisdiction of the Katghar police station. The unit manufactures items such as lamps, premium curtain rods, designer furniture, and metal handicraft products, which are exported internationally. Emergency teams continue their efforts to bring the situation under control.
