Nitish Kumar Announces Move to Rajya Sabha, Bihar Set to Get New Chief Minister
In a major political development, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced that he plans to move to the Rajya Sabha. The announcement was made by the Chief Minister himself through a post on the social media platform X. In his statement, Nitish Kumar said that since the beginning of his parliamentary career, he had wished to become a member of both Houses of the Bihar Legislature as well as both Houses of Parliament. He added that he now intends to become a member of the Rajya Sabha in the current election. Kumar also stated that he would extend his support to the new government that will be formed in Bihar. According to reports, Nitish Kumar, along with Ramnath Thakur, Nishant and Manish Verma, has already received nomination receipts from the state assembly. Nitish Kumar is expected to reach the assembly later today to formally file his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections. Political speculation suggests that he may submit his nomination along with Nitin Naveen. Meanwhile, Amit Shah is also expected to be present during the nomination process. The Union Home Minister is scheduled to arrive in Patna later today. Amid reports of Nitish Kumar’s possible entry into the Rajya Sabha, workers of the Janata Dal (United) have started gathering outside the Chief Minister’s residence. Party supporters expressed strong emotions over the development, saying that Nitish Kumar belongs to Bihar and they do not want him to leave the state’s leadership. Some workers even stated that they are ready to make sacrifices to keep him in Bihar. With Nitish Kumar preparing to contest the Rajya Sabha elections, Bihar may soon see a change in leadership, as the state could get a new Chief Minister in the coming days.
