New Zealand Players Shine with Significant Gains in ICC Rankings
India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has retained her position as the world’s No.1 batter in the ICC Women’s ODI rankings with 790 rating points. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur has also made progress in the rankings, moving up one place to seventh. Her rise comes after New Zealand’s Sophie Devine dropped two points and slipped to ninth position. Meanwhile, India’s middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues has maintained her 12th position. New Zealand players registered notable improvements following strong performances. Maddy Green climbed five places to 17th after scoring an impressive 94 runs in the final ODI against Zimbabwe, marking her career-best ranking. Team captain Amelia Kerr also delivered an outstanding all-round performance in the same match, scoring 80 runs and taking five wickets for 22 runs. Her efforts helped her move up to 19th position in the batting rankings. In the T20 rankings, several changes were also recorded. Amelia Kerr scored 78 runs in the first T20 against South Africa, achieving her career-best rating of 694 points. Georgia Plimmer advanced from 50th to 41st after scoring 63 runs. Among bowlers, Jess Kerr (23rd) and Sophie Devine (79th) also improved their positions. In terms of match results, New Zealand completed a 3-0 clean sweep in the ODI series against Zimbabwe. In the ongoing five-match T20 series against South Africa, New Zealand had won the first match by 80 runs, while South Africa bounced back to win the second match. The third match between the two sides is scheduled to be played in Auckland on Friday.
