GST Collection Surges 14.7% in September to Cross ₹2 Lakh Crore
India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection rose sharply by 14.7 per cent in September to ₹2,03,521 crore, according to official data released on Thursday. The collection stood at ₹1,77,365 crore in September last year.
The latest figures show that GST revenue from domestic activities increased 10.1 per cent to around ₹1.38 lakh crore during the month. Revenue from imports recorded a stronger growth of 26 per cent, reaching ₹65,525 crore.
GST refunds, meanwhile, declined by 3 per cent to ₹27,001 crore in September.
After adjusting for refunds, net GST collection increased 18.1 per cent to more than ₹1.76 lakh crore in September, compared with ₹1.49 lakh crore recorded during the same month a year earlier.
The September figures also contributed to higher GST revenue during the first half of the ongoing financial year 2026-27. Between April and September, gross GST collection increased 11.6 per cent to ₹12.46 lakh crore.
During the same six-month period, net GST collection rose 10.4 per cent to ₹10.66 lakh crore, according to the official data.
