Heavy Rain Triggers Rockfall in Himachal Pradesh, Two Injured After Boulder Hits Moving Car

Heavy rainfall continued to lash several parts of Himachal Pradesh on Friday, leading to multiple incidents of landslides and rockfalls. In one such incident, large rocks fell from a hillside onto a moving Toyota Innova Crysta on the Gambharpul–Sarli road in Solan district during the morning hours. The impact severely damaged the front portion of the vehicle and left two occupants injured. Both victims were shifted to Kunihar Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Persistent rainfall has triggered landslides at several locations across the state, disrupting transportation and power supply. According to available information, more than 250 roads have been closed, while over 200 electricity transformers have gone out of service due to the adverse weather conditions. Kullu district has reported the highest number of road closures, with 50 roads blocked, followed by Shimla district, where 27 roads remain closed. In Kala Amb, located in Sirmaur district, heavy rainfall led to waterlogging in several parts of the town. Meanwhile, another rockfall incident was reported from Vikasnagar, a suburb of Shimla, during the night. Falling rocks from a hillside damaged two parked vehicles, adding to the destruction caused by the ongoing spell of heavy rain across the state.
