Election Campaign Disrupted in Kerala as Tharoor’s Convoy Faces Assault

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s convoy was stopped by a group of individuals during an election campaign in Kerala on Friday evening, with his gunman and driver reportedly coming under attack. According to police, the incident took place around 7:30 PM in Vendur, located in Malappuram district. Tharoor was on his way to attend an election rally when five individuals allegedly intercepted his convoy in the Tiruvalli area. When the gunman and driver attempted to prevent them, they were assaulted by the group. Authorities stated that the motive behind the attack is not yet known. One accused has been taken into custody, while efforts are ongoing to trace the remaining suspects. Tharoor was reported to be safe and unharmed in the incident. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has announced special arrangements for young voters in Kerala. As per the plan, voters aged between 18 and 30 years will be provided free transportation within a 2-kilometre radius of their polling stations on the voting day, April 9. In addition, first-time voters will receive a packet of halwa as a gesture. Each district has been allocated 200 such packets for distribution.
