Puducherry Results: N. Rangasamy Surges Ahead with Strong Lead

04 May, 2026 10:28 AM

In the ongoing vote counting for the Puducherry elections, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has made a strong comeback in his constituency, signalling a likely victory. After initially trailing in early trends, the leader of All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) has established a commanding lead from the Thattanchavady seat. Following the completion of four rounds of counting, Rangasamy is ahead of his closest rival E. Vinayagam by a margin of 4,441 votes. Vinayagam, who is backed by actor Vijay’s party TVK, is currently trailing behind. According to the latest figures, Rangasamy has secured 10,024 votes, while E. Vinayagam has received 5,583 votes. Meanwhile, Congress candidate V. Vaithilingam is further behind with 2,990 votes. Notably, Rangasamy is contesting from two constituencies in this election — Thattanchavady and Mangalam. The Thattanchavady seat is considered one of the most crucial in the Union Territory, and his significant lead here has pushed the Congress candidate to the fourth position, marking a major setback for the party. With this development, the path appears to be clearing for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to form the government in Puducherry. The trends so far indicate growing support for Rangasamy and his party as counting continues.
