In a significant development in the ongoing controversy surrounding Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s alleged objectionable video, Sri Akal Takht Sahib has made public the video recording of its discussion with the Chief Minister regarding the matter. The meeting dates back to January 15, 2026, when Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann appeared before Sri Akal Takht Sahib in connection with various issues concerning him. During his appearance, the Chief Minister also submitted a large bag containing complaints to the acting Jathedar. During the proceedings, Acting Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj sought an explanation from the Chief Minister regarding the controversial video. The entire interaction was officially recorded at the time, and selected portions of that conversation have now been released to the public. Chief Minister Denies Authenticity of the Video According to the released video and audio recording, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann categorically stated that the alleged video is "completely fake." He said he personally supports a thorough investigation into the matter and is willing to provide the names of forensic laboratories where the video can be scientifically examined. The Chief Minister also remarked that the current era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has led to the creation of similar AI-generated videos involving several prominent personalities, not just himself. Jathedar Calls for Independent Forensic Examination Responding to the Chief Minister's statement, Acting Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj asked him to suggest two government forensic laboratories capable of conducting an independent examination of the video. The Chief Minister agreed to cooperate with the investigation. The Jathedar emphasized that the issue is connected to the Sikh Gurus and therefore deserves careful and impartial examination. He stated that if the video is found to be fabricated, no individual should be subjected to character assassination. However, he added that the authenticity of the video can only be established through a scientific forensic investigation. Akal Takht to Conduct Its Own Verification During the discussion, the Jathedar further stated that Sri Akal Takht Sahib would also arrange for the video to be examined independently by two separate forensic laboratories. At the same time, he said the Punjab government should have the video tested through two laboratories on its behalf as well. He added that if the video is proven to be fake, the facts will become clear. If it is found to be genuine, the matter will be placed before the Khalsa Panth for further decision. Recording Shared with SGPC Committee The video recording of the interaction between the Chief Minister and the Acting Jathedar has also been submitted to the executive committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). Committee members have viewed and reviewed the recording in detail.
