The Punjab government on Tuesday launched the registration process for the “Maan Dhiyaan Satkar Yojana,” a welfare initiative aimed at providing monthly financial assistance to women across the state. The programme was formally inaugurated in Jalandhar by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. During the launch event, the Chief Minister distributed certificates to beneficiaries, including Diksha Kaur, Simran, Amarjeet Kaur, Harbans Kaur, and Nisha. Addressing the gathering, Mann urged women to actively participate in politics, stating that their role is essential not only in households but also in shaping the nation. He encouraged women to assert themselves and highlighted the importance of education and empowerment. The Chief Minister also referenced the teachings of B. R. Ambedkar, noting his belief that knowledge empowers individuals to raise their voices and claim their rights. Mann emphasized the need for women to become strong and self-reliant in society. According to officials, a pilot phase of the scheme will begin on April 15 in nine विधानसभा constituencies, including Adampur, Malout, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Dirba, Sunam, Moga, Kotkapura, Batala, and Patiala Rural. Following this, the registration process will be extended to the remaining 108 constituencies across Punjab starting May 15. Under the scheme, women belonging to the general category will receive a monthly allowance of ₹1,000 starting from July, while women from Scheduled Caste categories will be provided ₹1,500 per month. The state government has allocated a total budget of ₹9,300 crore for the implementation of this initiative, and officials confirmed that all necessary preparations have been completed.
