Punjab to Witness Active Monsoon Conditions Over the Next Few Days
The monsoon is expected to regain strength across Punjab and Chandigarh, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rainfall between July 27 and July 29. In view of the expected weather conditions, an Orange Alert has been issued for the region. According to the weather department, heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds is likely during this period. Over the past 24 hours, several parts of Punjab have already recorded light to moderate rainfall. The department has further predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall along with gusty winds between July 27 and July 29. Residents have been advised to closely monitor the latest weather updates and follow advisories issued by the local administration. Surender Pal, Director of the Meteorological Centre in Chandigarh, said that the monsoon trough remains active over Punjab and Chandigarh. He added that a western disturbance is approaching the Jammu region, which is expected to influence weather conditions across the state. Due to the combined impact of these weather systems, clear skies are unlikely over the next two to three days. Cloudy conditions are expected to prevail intermittently, and several areas may continue to receive light to moderate rainfall.
