India's shooters continued their impressive run at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, adding another silver medal to the country's tally on the third day of competition.
The Indian men's 10m Air Rifle team, comprising Rudrankksh Patil, Himanshu Dhillon and Parth Mane, secured the silver medal after finishing with a combined score of 1890.1 points. China claimed the gold medal with 1899.9 points, while South Korea finished third to take the bronze.
The result marked India's third medal of the Games, with all three coming from shooting events. The performance further underlined India's strong start in the shooting competitions.
Soon after the team event, Indian shooters delivered another memorable display in the individual competition. In the men's 10m Air Rifle individual final, Himanshu Dhillon won the silver medal, while former world champion Rudrankksh Patil secured the bronze medal. The two medals came less than an hour after India's team silver-winning effort.
Earlier in the qualification round, Rudrankksh finished third with 631.8 points, while Himanshu qualified in seventh place after scoring 630.0 points. However, Parth Rakesh Mane narrowly missed out on a place in the final, ending the qualification stage in 11th position with 628.3 points.
Himanshu Dhillon Continues Rapid Rise
Born on September 29, 2005, Himanshu Dhillon has emerged as one of India's promising talents in the 10m Air Rifle discipline. He enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2025, winning two gold medals and one bronze medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup.
His success continued in 2026, when he captured two gold medals at the Asian Championship. At the 2026 Senior World Cup in Munich, he finished ninth and impressed observers by scoring 635.7 points in qualification.
Parth Mane Builds on Junior Success
Parth Rakesh Mane, born on November 13, 2007, is regarded as one of India's leading young rifle shooters. In 2024, he became a Junior World Champion after winning gold at the ISSF Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru.
During the same year, he also earned a silver medal at the Junior World Cup and a bronze medal at the Asian Championship, establishing himself as a rising name in international shooting.
Rudrankksh Patil Remains a Key Figure in Indian Shooting
Born in Thane, Maharashtra, on December 16, 2003, Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil has established himself among India's top shooting stars. He achieved global recognition in 2022, when he won gold medals in both the individual and team events at the World Championship in Cairo.
Rudrankksh also became only the second Indian shooter after Abhinav Bindra to win an individual world title in the 10m Air Rifle event. In the same year, he reached the world No. 1 ranking in the discipline.
With medals continuing to arrive from the shooting range, India's campaign at the Asian Games has received a significant boost, and expectations remain high for further success in the ongoing competition.
