Nation Awaits PM Modi’s Speech Following Lok Sabha Developments
Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the nation at 8:30 PM today. However, no official details have been released regarding the exact subject of his address. According to sources, the Prime Minister is expected to speak on recent developments in Parliament, particularly the issue surrounding the implementation of women’s reservation, along with events that unfolded over the past two days. The address is being seen as significant in the current political context. It is noteworthy that on Friday, the Lok Sabha failed to pass the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill related to women’s reservation. The proposed legislation sought to increase the number of Lok Sabha seats from 543 to 816 and reserve 33 percent of seats for women. During the voting, 298 members supported the bill, while 230 voted against it. The bill required 352 votes to be passed, but fell short of the necessary majority. Sources further indicated that during a Cabinet meeting held on Saturday, the Prime Minister remarked that the opposition had made a mistake by not supporting the women’s reservation proposal and would have to face the consequences of their decision. The Prime Minister’s address tonight is expected to draw nationwide attention, as citizens await clarity on key political developments.
