Indian Cricketer Rinku Singh’s Father Passes Away After Illness

27 Feb, 2026 08:46 AM

In a tragic development, the father of Indian cricketer Rinku Singh, Khan Chand Singh (60), passed away early Friday morning at around 4:36 am after battling stage four liver cancer. According to available information, his health had deteriorated significantly a few days ago, following which he was admitted to a private hospital in Greater Noida. He was placed on ventilator support, but his condition continued to worsen. Upon receiving news of his father’s critical health, Rinku Singh had left the Indian team earlier this week and returned home. At that time, he was with the squad in Chennai but skipped practice sessions to be with his family. After meeting his father, the cricketer rejoined the team in Chennai on February 25. However, he was not included in the playing eleven for the Super 8 match against Zimbabwe on February 26, although he participated on the field as a substitute fielder. Sources indicate that Rinku Singh is now returning home again following his father’s demise. It remains unclear whether he will rejoin Team India for the remaining matches of the T20 World Cup.
