Early Morning Blaze in Surat Leads to Cylinder Explosions, Multiple Casualties
At least two people were killed and nine others injured after gas cylinders exploded following a fire in an embroidery unit building in Surat, Gujarat, on Thursday morning. According to a fire brigade official, the incident occurred at around 5:30 am on the third floor of a building located near Rachna Circle in the Bharatnagar area of Kapodra. The fire broke out in the embroidery unit, after which two gas cylinders exploded, worsening the situation. Officials said that a total of eight gas cylinders were kept inside the building, out of which two exploded. One LPG cylinder had already burst before the fire brigade arrived at the scene, leading to the rapid spread of the fire. Upon receiving information, fire tenders from four fire stations were rushed to the site. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after sustained efforts. During the rescue operation, fire brigade personnel broke open a sheet covering the third floor and evacuated those trapped inside. A total of 11 people were rescued and shifted to a hospital. Among them, two succumbed to their injuries, while nine others sustained injuries. Authorities have initiated further investigation into the cause of the fire.
