Raghav Chadha, Two Others Quit AAP; Arvind Kejriwal Hits Out at BJP
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) faced a major setback on Thursday as Rajya Sabha members Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, and Sandeep Pathak announced their resignation from the party. Along with stepping down, the leaders also stated their intention to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), triggering fresh political developments at the national level. Reacting to the development, AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal strongly criticized the BJP. Taking to social media platform ‘X’, Kejriwal wrote, “The BJP has once again betrayed the people of Punjab.” His remarks have further intensified the political discourse surrounding the resignations. Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also targeted the BJP, accusing it of indulging in “Operation Lotus” in Punjab. He alleged that the BJP is playing “dirty politics” in the state despite the AAP government’s strong performance. According to Singh, the party’s governance in Punjab has been effective, which has unsettled its political opponents. Sanjay Singh further stated that the seven Rajya Sabha members who have left the party to join the BJP should be remembered by the people of Punjab. He urged voters to hold them accountable in the upcoming elections. The series of resignations has sparked significant political activity, and its long-term impact on the state and national political landscape remains to be seen.
