Two passenger trains collided near Bedford, approximately 60 miles north of London, on Friday evening, leaving dozens of people reportedly injured. Following the incident, British Transport Police, fire crews, ambulance services, and air ambulances were immediately dispatched to the scene. According to reports, the collision occurred at around 6:45 p.m. local time, which corresponds to approximately 11:55 p.m. IST on June 19. Videos circulating on social media show a damaged Luton Airport Express train, while passengers can be seen being escorted to safe areas alongside the railway tracks. Some British media reports suggest that more than 50 people may have been injured in the accident. Bedford Hospital activated its emergency protocol and called in additional medical staff to handle the situation. However, authorities have not yet released an official count of injuries or confirmed any fatalities. Preliminary information indicates that both trains involved in the collision belonged to East Midlands Railway and that the accident occurred near Bedford. Some eyewitnesses said one train struck the rear of another train that was either stationary or moving slowly, causing damage to several coaches. This account, however, has not yet been officially confirmed. Following the collision, rail services between London St Pancras and Leicester were suspended. Passengers have been advised to postpone their journeys or use alternative travel routes until services resume. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. British Transport Police said the situation is being closely monitored, and further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
