Political Tensions Rise as AAP Supporters Demonstrate Against Defecting Rajya Sabha MPs
Political tensions escalated in Punjab as workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged protests in Jalandhar against seven Rajya Sabha members who allegedly left the party to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). According to reports, AAP workers gathered outside the residence of former Member of Parliament Harbhajan Singh in Jalandhar, where they raised slogans against him. During the protest, demonstrators also wrote the word “traitor” on the wall of his residence, expressing their anger over his alleged defection. In a separate protest, AAP workers demonstrated outside Lovely Professional University against Ashok Mittal. The protesters burned an effigy and raised slogans such as “traitors of Punjab,” condemning the leaders for switching allegiance. The protesting workers alleged that a total of seven Rajya Sabha members, including Harbhajan Singh, Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, and Sandeep Pathak, had betrayed the party by joining the BJP. The demonstrations reflect growing discontent within party ranks following the reported political developments. The situation highlights increasing political friction in the state, with party workers openly expressing dissent against leaders accused of shifting loyalties.
