Dearness Allowance Raised to 60% for Central Staff and Pensioners

In a significant relief for central government employees and pensioners, the Union Cabinet has approved a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA), according to sources following a recent cabinet meeting. With this latest revision, the DA for central government employees has increased to 60%. The move is expected to provide financial support to employees and pensioners amid rising living costs. Earlier, in October, the government had raised the DA from 55% to 58%, which came into effect from July 2025. The latest hike builds upon that increase, further enhancing the overall compensation for government staff. The decision is set to benefit lakhs of central government employees and pensioners across the country. The increase in DA will directly raise their monthly salaries and pensions, offering better financial stability and helping them manage household expenses more effectively.
